SME, Acquisition and Engineering

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Moderate travel required (20–50%); standard working hours.

Basic compensation: $200,000–$225,000 per year, depending on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and internal parity.

What you will do

• Develop strategic acquisition policies and initiatives for the Director of Engineering.
• Provide software acquisition expertise for Department of Defense programs, including classified space control systems.
• Prepare and coordinate documentation for Defense Acquisition Boards and source selections.
• Develop acquisition planning and execution approaches, including analyses of alternatives, acquisition strategies, justifications, solicitations, statements of work, CDRLs, and incentive plans.
• Advise on government contracting, budgeting, financial management, and program scheduling.
• Analyze business cases and risks, identify execution issues, recommend solutions, and support technical evaluations and strategic communications.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of acquisition management and planning experience in Department of Defense or related environments, including operational-unit and headquarters-staff assignments.
• Expertise in acquisition strategies, source selections, USSF policy and doctrine, combatant command and service relationships, congressional affairs, and interagency processes.
• Knowledge of DoD contracting, budgeting, financial management principles, and Congressional Defense Committees.
• BA/BS in science or a related field.
• Active TS security clearance, SCI eligibility, and an in-scope T5 or SSBI background investigation required.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and independent-working abilities.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related science or engineering field.
• Understanding of ACAT I–III program management and milestone decision processes from pre-Milestone A through Milestone C.
• Source-selection evaluator or advisor experience, Pentagon or major headquarters experience, and operations assignments.
• DAWIA/APDP Program Management Level III, PMP, or PgMP certification.
• Experience with Confluence, JIRA, Overhead Persistent Infrared, Missile Warning, Nuclear Detection, or Missile Defense programs.
