Machinist 1st Shift (CNC Manufacturing)

Location: Costa Mesa, California, United States; onsite, 1st shift

What you will do

• Operate automated 5-axis CNC machines according to production schedules, SOPs, and drawing setup instructions.
• Verify machine configuration, tooling, tool life, fixtures, castings, and raw materials before production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and QC to optimize machining processes and resolve quality issues.
• Inspect parts and use QC reports, measuring equipment, machine geometry data, and setup information to diagnose non-conformances.
• Perform daily CNC machine maintenance, including cleaning and coolant concentration checks, and document activities.
• Recover machines and automation robots from alarms, document production losses, and support root-cause corrective actions.

Requirements

• High school diploma and an associate degree or relevant completed trade school study in CNC machine manufacturing.
• 5+ years of experience in a close-tolerance CNC manufacturing environment, including machine operation, programming, and cutting tool selection and maintenance.
• Knowledge of 5-axis CNC controls and the ability to select, retrieve, and run programs; Heidenhain and Mazatrol experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, G and M code programming, detailed blueprints, and advanced GD&T.
• Competence with micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, go/no-go gauges, and other measuring equipment.
• Ability to work independently, follow and provide feedback on SOPs, remain on foot, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Heidenhain iTNC 530/640, Mazatrol, and 5-axis milling machines.
• Experience with root-cause analysis for CNC machine tools, cutting tools, and human performance.
• Experience maintaining a 5S shop-floor environment and revising SOPs.
• Forklift operating experience.
