TL;DR
Electrical Technician (UAV/Robotics): Building and testing complex unmanned aerial systems for wildfire suppression, with an accent on precision electromechanical assembly, wiring, soldering, and system-level validation. Focus on diagnosing PCB and electrical faults, validating flight controllers and propulsion systems, and maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards for mission-critical equipment.

Location: Sausalito, United States; on-site

Salary: $71,000–$160,000 per year, with potential equity compensation and additional benefits.

Company

hirify.global develops drone and sensor technology for wildfire suppression and climate resilience, with a focus on reducing wildfire risk across high-risk U.S. and allied territory.

What you will do

  • Perform final assembly and wiring of UAS electronics, including power distribution systems, flight controllers, motors, ESCs, sensors, and payload electronics.
  • Solder and rework through-hole and SMT components, fabricate wire harnesses, and crimp and terminate connectors.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and test PCBs and PCBAs at the component and system levels.
  • Conduct power-on, continuity, insulation, sensor calibration, motor and ESC verification, and communication link tests.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other test equipment.
  • Document test results and non-conformances, support root-cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering on design-for-assembly and design-for-test improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on electrical or electromechanical assembly experience, ideally with UAVs, robotics, aerospace, or similarly complex systems.
  • Demonstrated experience building, integrating, repairing, or testing UAV or robotics platforms.
  • Proficiency in soldering, SMT rework, crimping, and wire harness fabrication across multiple connector types and gauges.
  • Experience troubleshooting PCBs and PCBAs at the component level and reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly drawings.
  • Working knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, hand tools, and basic electrical principles.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple builds and tests, maintain accurate documentation, follow ESD procedures, and safely handle LiPo/Li-ion batteries and high-current systems.

Nice to have

  • Experience with flight controllers, ESCs, motors, UAV communication, or telemetry systems.
  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification, or progress toward certification.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, public safety equipment, or another regulated and mission-critical industry.
  • Familiarity with ESD-controlled, cleanroom, ERP, or MES environments.
  • Experience with firefighting, emergency response, or public-safety equipment standards.

Culture & Benefits

  • Equity compensation.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Optional health savings account.
  • Unlimited PTO and paid company holidays.
  • Work requires extended periods at a workbench and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodation available.
