Prototype Development Technician (Robotics)

Location: San Jose, CA; 5 days per week in-office

Salary: $30–$40 per hour

What you will do

• Build mechanical and electromechanical assemblies from CAD, schematics, and verbal guidance.
• Perform wiring, soldering, and custom harness assembly.
• Execute tests, diagnose issues, and implement solutions with engineering teams.
• Iterate on prototype designs and incorporate frequent revisions.
• Document build processes, findings, and feedback to support design development.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical prototyping or assembly.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Degree in a related technical field.
• IPC certification.
• Experience building robotic systems.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling, 3D printing, machining, or other in-house fabrication.
