Java Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Onsite in Southlake, Texas or Austin, Texas, United States

Salary: USD $43.27–$45.19 per hour, plus bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance modern, cloud-ready Java applications supporting investment research and asset management.
• Build scalable software using microservices, RESTful APIs, cloud technologies, automation, and CI/CD practices.
• Improve platform performance, user efficiency, and business outcomes through high-quality software enhancements.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives, event-driven architectures, and applications that automate key workflows.
• Write, test, debug, and maintain reliable code while collaborating with engineers, architects, product owners, and quality teams in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Software development experience through internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, academic projects, or professional work.
• Foundational proficiency in Java, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL queries, RESTful APIs, web services, testing, debugging, and code maintenance.
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control tools and collaborative Agile development.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and learning skills.

Nice to have

• Spring Framework or Spring Boot, microservices, event-driven architectures, and REST API development.
• JUnit or Mockito, cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Docker, MongoDB, Angular or other modern frontend frameworks, and Python-based development or analytics tools.
• Experience with Agile Scrum teams, Jira, Confluence, clean code, and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
