TL;DR
Wafer Sustaining Engineer I - Early Career (Thin-Film Manufacturing): Troubleshooting and optimizing wafer thin-film manufacturing processes and supporting R&D and process engineering with an accent on yield, quality, SPC monitoring, and nanofabrication equipment. Focus on investigating scrap root causes, analyzing process data, improving wafer-build efficiency, and developing workflow automation with Python, Power Automate, and OCAPs.

Location: Onsite at the Bloomington, Minnesota campus in the United States. The role works on D Shift: Friday–Sunday and every other Thursday, 4:00 pm–4:00 am. The position may require limited or occasional travel.

Salary: $66,000–$79,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot and evaluate suspect wafers and manufacturing processes.
  • Investigate scrap root causes, monitor tools through SPC, and address factory inhibitors.
  • Collaborate with process technicians, engineers, maintenance, operations, and R&D teams to resolve product and factory issues.
  • Maintain process documentation, passdowns, control management, and event management records.
  • Analyze manufacturing data using JMP, Excel, and Power BI, including trending, data modeling, deviation identification, and dashboard deployment.
  • Improve wafer-build efficiency and support automation using Microsoft Power Automate, Python, and OCAPs.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a Class 100 cleanroom and with nanofabrication equipment and measurement instrumentation.
  • Willingness to work the specified D Shift schedule at the Bloomington campus.

Nice to have

  • Interest in machine learning, generative AI, and data science.
  • Experience or interest in process engineering, metrology, yield and quality engineering, equipment engineering, chemistry, physics, or materials science.
