Process and Technology Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Tempe Spares Mfg, Arizona, United States; onsite production environment with night-shift work and approximately 10% travel to support customers in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. Relocation is not available.

Salary: $108,000–$148,500 per year.

What you will do

• Design, conduct, analyze, and document complex process engineering experiments within safety guidelines.
• Perform hardware characterization, measure film properties, interpret data, and troubleshoot production and engineering issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis and resolve process engineering problems with limited supervision.
• Generate internal and external product documentation, presentations, and technical reports.
• Interact with customers, vendors, and suppliers; implement new technologies, products, and analytical instrumentation.
• Serve as a resource for junior colleagues and lead project teams when needed.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of material properties, phase transformations, and microstructure-performance relationships.
• Familiarity with failure analysis techniques such as SEM, EDS, and XRD.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic production environment.
• Willingness to work night-shift production and provide technical customer support across Asia, Europe, and the U.S.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of experience in ceramic manufacturing, process engineering, or R&D.
• Experience with CVD or other thin-film deposition techniques, including PVD, ALD, or PECVD.
• Experience with statistical process control, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools such as JMP, Excel, Minitab, or Python.
• Experience supporting customers in high-tech industries and influencing cross-functional teams or leading projects under tight deadlines.
