Engineering Manager for Postgres

Salary: $204,000–$289,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team of Postgres engineers through mentorship, feedback, hiring, and technical guidance.
• Drive product initiatives from ideation through launch while maintaining reliability and quality.
• Partner with Product, Design, Infrastructure, customers, and internal stakeholders to translate user needs into technical solutions and roadmaps.
• Guide system design decisions and help the team navigate architectural tradeoffs.
• Break down complex problems into incremental milestones that deliver value while supporting long-term platform evolution.
• Promote ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and a strong understanding of developer experience and customer impact.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as an engineer shipping products or features with downstream business and product impact.
• 2+ years of experience managing and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Strong technical background in system design, architecture, and engineering tradeoffs, ideally including stateful services.
• Product-oriented approach with experience translating business and user needs into engineering roadmaps and shipped features.
• Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, and accountability skills.
• Applicants must be based in the United States; new visa sponsorship is generally not available.

Nice to have

• Experience building developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, or DevTools.
• Background with highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure platforms.
• Experience improving engineering velocity through tooling, processes, and team practices.
• Experience building products used directly by developers or other technical users.
• Successful collaboration with Product Marketing and Customer Support to drive adoption and retention.
