Engineering Manager, Notifications Platform

Location: Remote - United States

Salary: $217,000–$303,000 USD per year, plus equity and potential commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Lead the team responsible for architecting, building, and operating Reddit’s Notifications Platform.
• Set technical direction for notification APIs, eventing, workflow orchestration, delivery pipelines, preferences, templates, experimentation, and observability.
• Collaborate with Notifications ML teams to build and productionize ML-powered notification systems.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to define platform contracts, improve developer experience, and enable safe, efficient launches.
• Drive the full lifecycle of highly available services, from design and development through deployment, operations, and continuous improvement.
• Develop engineering talent, communicate plans to stakeholders, and align platform strategy with company goals.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building and managing engineering teams.
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer or engineering manager building and operating large-scale distributed systems or platform services.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, event-driven systems, and production APIs.
• Hands-on experience with highly available, low-latency services and operational excellence practices.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, data storage, streaming or messaging systems, and observability tooling.
• Strong communication skills, self-direction, and the ability to solve ambiguous problems.
