Engineering Manager

Location: Remote in Canada or the United States; collaboration across European and US time zones.

Compensation: CA$244,550–CA$392,150 plus equity in Canada; US$174,900–US$282,700 plus equity in the United States.

What you will do

• Lead the Secure Build and SCS Services teams, owning delivery, team health, growth, performance, and operational excellence.
• Turn separate roadmaps into a coherent portfolio plan with clear priorities, capacity allocation, and trade-offs.
• Partner with Product on secure build, hirify.global Scout, hirify.global Hardened Images, and connecting service roadmaps.
• Participate in technical design, code reviews, incident response, and selective hands-on work across backend and infrastructure systems.
• Own interfaces between the teams, including trust boundaries, contracts, data quality, versioning, and operational ownership.
• Hire, retain, coach, and develop engineers while building succession depth and sustainable leadership coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years managing high-performing engineering teams across multiple teams or technical domains.
• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in backend, infrastructure, platform, or developer tooling.
• Strong judgment in backend and distributed systems, including APIs, event-driven architectures, data stores, cloud-native infrastructure, and production operations.
• Experience with CI or build systems, containers, artifact workflows, software supply-chain security, on-call, incident response, observability, and SLOs.
• Must be able to work remotely from Canada or the United States and collaborate across European and US time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, Clojure, Kafka, Spanner, Datomic, OCI, BuildKit, Buildx, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with sandboxing, microVMs, untrusted workload execution, or multi-tenant infrastructure.
• Knowledge of SLSA, in-toto, SBOMs, VEX, Sigstore, cosign, provenance, signing, or vulnerability scanning.
• Experience evolving legacy systems while delivering new developer tooling or security capabilities.
