Instructional Designer / Content Developer

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite work in Abbott Park is required 3 days per week.

Salary: $65,500–$125,500 annually, plus eligibility for short-term incentive programs.

What you will do

• Design and develop eLearning modules, videos, graphics, simulations, job aids, and other digital learning assets.
• Translate complex business and process information into clear, learner-friendly experiences that support skill development and performance improvement.
• Manage assigned project tasks, track milestones, communicate status, and escalate risks or dependencies.
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts and business stakeholders to define learning needs and validate content accuracy.
• Apply instructional design, adult learning, design thinking, and digital storytelling practices.
• Monitor learning effectiveness through feedback, completion data, and basic evaluation methods, identifying opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, learning and development, organizational development, adult education, communications, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in adult learning, instructional design, training development, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
• Proficiency with eLearning authoring, graphic design, video creation or editing, and/or simulation development tools.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, project coordination, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Abbott Park, United States.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in pharmaceuticals or another highly regulated industry.
• Interest in emerging learning and design trends and experimentation with new tools and formats.
