TL;DR
Senior Process Improvement and Modernization Consultant (Business Analysis, Associate) (Financial Management): Assessing and modernizing federal financial management operations, policies, processes, and supporting systems with an accent on current-state analysis, stakeholder alignment, and practical improvement recommendations. Focus on mapping cross-organizational workflows, facilitating leadership working sessions, identifying root causes, and guiding implementation of approved changes.

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC, with possible in-person meetings at the client site. The schedule may change based on client, company, and contract requirements.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Map current-state financial and administrative processes across organizational and system boundaries.
  • Identify process breakdowns, delays, rework, duplication, policy gaps, and root causes.
  • Evaluate financial operations, data, and supporting systems against federal regulations, standards, and leading practices.
  • Design and facilitate working sessions with process owners, system owners, client leadership, and executives.
  • Develop sequenced recommendations for process, policy, governance, and system modernization.
  • Support implementation, adoption, and sustainment while preparing procedures, findings reports, and executive briefings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, or business transformation work.
  • Experience independently assessing unfamiliar operations and producing defensible current-state analyses.
  • Experience designing and facilitating improvement sessions with mixed stakeholder groups, including senior leadership.
  • Experience working in or supporting a US federal agency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including procedures, assessments, findings, and client discussions.
  • BA/BS degree and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance; prior federal investigation is preferred.

Nice to have

  • Experience in federal accounting, budgeting, or financial management.
  • Formal Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent improvement-methodology training with demonstrated application.
  • Experience creating policies and standard operating procedures.
