Senior Software Engineer (Java/Python)

Location: On site in Southlake, Texas; Austin, Texas; or San Francisco, California

Salary: $150,000–$181,000 per year, plus potential bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Build and deliver full-stack software for investment research initiatives across design, development, testing, and production support.
• Design cloud-ready, event-driven microservices, APIs, messaging patterns, and on-premises/cloud integrations.
• Partner with product owners, researchers, architects, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Improve clean-code practices, automated testing, observability, CI/CD workflows, DevOps delivery, and secure-by-design engineering.
• Diagnose complex production and integration issues while strengthening platform resiliency and scalability.
• Mentor engineers, communicate technical tradeoffs, and use approved Generative AI capabilities in line with enterprise governance and security requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of production application development experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Python.
• Experience building cloud-ready, event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs at scale with technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL knowledge, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Bigtable, plus experience with financial datasets and data engineering workflows.
• Experience creating Python-based data visualizations or dashboards and using CI/CD and container delivery tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub CI/CD, Bamboo, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of secure coding, code quality analysis, data structures, algorithms, and modern design principles.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing data platforms or research technology in regulated industries, especially financial services.
• Familiarity with rules engines, data lake patterns for large-scale time series data, and collaboration with quantitative partners using Python or R.
• Experience balancing near-term delivery with long-term architecture evolution and platform scalability.
