Senior Software Engineer - Frontend/Backend (Angular/AWS)

Location: Remote within the United States

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy features across frontend and backend systems in a cloud-native microservice architecture.
• Build and consume versioned RESTful APIs with OpenAPI specifications and develop integrations using PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Implement user-facing features with Angular, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
• Lead technical design discussions, document architectural decisions, and present system designs to engineers, product owners, and federal stakeholders.
• Diagnose production issues, improve system resilience, and maintain engineering quality and security standards.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, contribute to CI/CD and Terraform practices, and participate in technical interviews.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent additional experience.
• Must meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background investigation.
• Expert-level proficiency in either frontend engineering with Angular, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS or backend engineering with Python, Java, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
• Strong knowledge of containerized microservices and AWS services including ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Git, versioned RESTful APIs, and published OpenAPI specifications.
• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and strong communication skills for explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with federal digital services or government contracting.
• Terraform, AWS SNS/SQS, Lambda, Step Functions, Pact, or API contract governance experience.
• Familiarity with SAFe, PI planning, ART coordination, Pay.gov, login.gov, or identity and authentication platforms.
• Experience mentoring engineers in a cross-functional federal delivery environment.
