Staff Software Engineer, Risk (Fintech)

Location: Seattle, United States

Salary: $200–$330 base pay, plus potential bonus and other compensation.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance payment products and transaction systems using Java and Kotlin.
• Design and build independent components on a microservice framework.
• Experiment with new technologies and propose architectural improvements.
• Collaborate with senior technical teams, other engineering groups, and global customers on risk management.
• Support and mentor less-experienced engineers in software practices and coding standards.

Requirements

• More than 8 years of core Java development experience and more than 5 years building internet applications, large financial systems, or e-commerce platforms.
• More than 3 years of experience developing risk or payment platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Strong Java expertise, including multithreading, high concurrency, I/O, NIO, and network communication.
• Experience designing and developing large-scale distributed, high-load, and highly available systems.
• Knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful services, Gradle, Maven, JSON, and XML.

Nice to have

• Experience with risk management strategies and fraud detection in financial or fintech environments.
• Knowledge of graph databases, machine learning models, and predictive risk analytics.
• Experience with real-time streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and Flink.
• Experience with ClickHouse, Spark, or NoSQL databases for large-scale data processing.
• Incident response, risk mitigation planning, strong problem-solving, and communication skills.
