Staff Software Engineer (Java)

Location: New York, New York, United States

Base pay: $202,500–$274,000 per year, with potential bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the technical design and delivery of complex initiatives involving balance verification, scheduled rule execution, and event-driven reconciliation.
• Design and operate treasury infrastructure for funds movement, balance verification, reconciliation, and transaction reporting.
• Partner with platform teams to translate business requirements into robust, well-tested system designs.
• Build and maintain production-grade services with automated integration and end-to-end testing.
• Write architecture decision records and technical specifications, keeping designs aligned with implementation.
• Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and manage delivery risks through production.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with staff-level ownership of complex distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience designing and operating event-driven, high-reliability financial or transactional systems.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and production schema or migration management.
• Deep commitment to automated integration and end-to-end testing.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka or stream-processing frameworks such as Flink.
