Director of Business & People Operations

Location: USA - Remote; work hours must overlap at least 3 hours with US Eastern Time.

What you will do

• Own utilization, capacity planning, billability, workforce planning, pay bands, headcount strategy, and team economics.
• Manage operational inputs to financial planning, including service-line margin, staffing costs, time tracking accuracy, project profitability, and scope-creep detection.
• Design and optimize the delivery operating system, including SOPs, handoffs, onboarding, quality gates, and Asana-based client-work visibility.
• Lead people operations covering onboarding, ramp design, performance management, compensation strategy, organizational structure, and multi-country logistics.
• Govern the tool stack and vendor ecosystem across time tracking, project management, CRM, AI tools, file storage, and integrations.
• Drive the operating cadence and AI automation roadmap, including prioritization, build-versus-buy decisions, deployment, and adoption tracking.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of operations experience, including at least 3 years in an agency, consulting, or professional services environment.
• Direct people-management experience with the ability to coach, set expectations, give feedback, and maintain accountability.
• Experience owning utilization and gross-margin reporting for a services business.
• Experience shipping AI into an organization and maintaining a production workflow that replaced manual work and improved operations.
• Strong systems thinking, process documentation, automation, analytical communication, change management, and comfort with ambiguity.
• Must be based in US Eastern or Central Time and overlap at least 3 hours with US Eastern Time.
