TL;DR
Factory Infrastructure Engineer (Manufacturing): Designing and operating infrastructure for the Skyfall autonomous printing system with an accent on thermal management, industrial plumbing, high-flow gas delivery, and factory performance monitoring. Focus on integrating sensors and data acquisition, maintaining critical utilities, troubleshooting complex fluid systems, and scaling automated manufacturing infrastructure.

Location: Hawthorne, Los Angeles, California, United States; full-time onsite presence five days a week is required.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year, plus stock options.

What you will do

  • Design and implement infrastructure for the Skyfall next-generation printing system, including chillers, industrial plumbing, and high-flow gas delivery.
  • Develop factory performance monitoring systems using sensors and data acquisition to track utility health, pressure levels, and flow rates in real time.
  • Oversee power, process water, nitrogen, argon, and other critical utilities in accordance with safety codes.
  • Define preventive maintenance for pumps, compressors, HVAC, and other facilities equipment while identifying automation opportunities.
  • Source specialized fluid-system components and high-pressure fittings for infrastructure build-outs and engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • At least two years of facilities engineering, factory engineering, launch and ground systems engineering, or similar experience.
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer from first principles.
  • Hands-on ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and fluid systems.
  • Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne five days per week, with very limited exceptions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with EHS practices, high-pressure gas safety under NFPA 55, and metal powder handling.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or NX for facility layouts, piping routes, and mechanical mounts.
  • Experience with high-volume production, automated manufacturing lines, PLCs, industrial automation controls, or BMS.
  • Background in aerospace ground support, rocket engine test sites, cryogenic or high-pressure fluid systems, or new facility build-outs.
  • Knowledge of ITAR, ISO 9001, metal additive manufacturing, or powder-based industrial processes.
