Patient Access Specialist - Part-time (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Children's Minnesota - Minneapolis Hospital in Minneapolis, MN

Salary: $17.00–$22.80 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Perform patient admissions and pre-registration, assign accurate medical record numbers, and collect demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Complete medical necessity and compliance checks, including Advanced Beneficiary Notice screening for Medicare patients.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select appropriate plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain and distribute consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient education forms, obtaining required signatures and witness information.
• Operate the hospital telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service to patients, guarantors, guardians, physicians, and colleagues.
• Audit patient accounts, correct documentation issues, maintain reporting data, and support Patient Access leadership with quality monitoring.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at Children's Minnesota - Minneapolis Hospital.
• Inquisitive mindset and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
