TL;DR
Forensic Structural Engineer, PE (Nebraska or Iowa) (Structural Engineering): Investigating structural damage, defects, failures, moisture intrusion, premises liability claims, and roof conditions through site inspections, engineering analysis, technical reporting, and expert testimony with an accent on forensic evaluation and civil/structural engineering. Focus on analyzing complex structural issues, documenting findings clearly, and supporting legal proceedings with defensible expert conclusions.

Location: Fully remote, with the ideal candidate based in Nebraska or Iowa and supporting cases throughout the surrounding region. U.S. Persons only due to ITAR export-control requirements.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

  • Conduct forensic investigations of structural damage, defects, failures, moisture intrusion, premises liability claims, and roof conditions.
  • Perform site inspections and collect data to support forensic analysis.
  • Apply civil and structural engineering principles to analyze and assess structural issues.
  • Prepare clear technical reports describing findings and conclusions.
  • Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings when required.
  • Monitor relevant structural engineering codes, standards, and industry developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, including a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, to comply with ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • Forensic engineering experience.
  • Experience providing expert testimony in legal proceedings.
