Associate Underwriter

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote

Base pay: $39,300–$86,400 annually, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Quote and rate group health insurance proposals.
• Prepare renewal projections.
• Approve cases within established authority guidelines.
• Apply mathematical calculations and estimates to evaluate proposals for reasonableness.
• Build and maintain business relationships while resolving problems independently.
• Manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and workloads.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 2 years of experience in a group health insurance function.
• Math skills covering addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and estimation.
• Independent judgment, problem-resolution, multitasking, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication with accurate grammar, concise structure, and audience-appropriate tone.
• PC proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the Chicago office.
