Recovery Specialist

Location: Hybrid remote role with required onsite attendance at quarterly meetings and periodically throughout the year in Tukwila, WA or Spokane, WA. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM PST.

Target pay range: $28.99–$35.34 per hour. Full pay range: $22.50–$41.83 per hour.

What you will do

• Negotiate settlements and recovery solutions for charged-off accounts with debtors, attorneys, agencies, and third parties.
• Manage, document, and follow up on legal and collection accounts in the collection system.
• Apply Washington State and federal collection laws, including requirements related to levies, liens, rights, and documentation.
• Use skip-tracing techniques to locate debtors and coordinate account referrals and activities with collection agencies.
• Process payments and returned mail, prepare bankruptcy proofs of claim, update credit bureau information, and support portfolio sales.
• Identify risks, review vendor invoices, maintain procedures, and recommend improvements to loan loss recovery operations.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent work or educational experience.
• At least 5 years of customer service experience, including 3 years in collections.
• Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and applicable collection laws and regulations.
• Ability to handle confidential information, exercise discretion, work independently and collaboratively, and solve problems using sound judgment.
• Strong verbal and written communication, PC skills, ability to learn new software, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks under deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial services products, post-charge-off recovery, legal collections, or collection certifications.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to collections.
