Associate Software Engineer, Expenses (AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid

Salary: $109,000–$136,000 CAD per year; ranges may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Build and maintain the expenses platform for customer submissions, approvals, and reimbursements.
• Design and deliver foundational backend solutions for the Expenses domain.
• Contribute to the migration of production systems from Ruby to Go.
• Develop AI-powered product features and experiment with AI tooling.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product partners to understand customer problems and make effective technical tradeoffs.
• Ship, deploy, and maintain reliable large-scale applications.

Requirements

• At least one year of professional hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience with a modern server-side language and willingness to learn Go; Ruby on Rails is part of the existing technology stack.
• Experience building and consuming REST and HTTP APIs.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with relational data models.
• Product-minded approach, including collaboration with product partners and navigating ambiguity.
• Curiosity about AI tooling and willingness to experiment with AI-powered development.
