Plant Optimization Engineer (Cincinnati, OH)

Location: Cincinnati, OH, at a corrugated box plant facility. The role requires working first, second, or third shift during production rotations and traveling as necessary.

Salary: $83,000–$86,000 per year, plus an annual performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Complete a two-year rotational training program across Maintenance and Production departments at a corrugated box plant.
• Organize and implement process improvements, problem-elimination initiatives, and capital or expense projects.
• Improve equipment health, plant reliability, facility operations, throughput, scrap reduction, and downtime performance.
• Develop and implement innovative solutions for equipment, facility, and production operations.
• Collaborate with plant leadership, operators, maintenance teams, mentors, managers, and other Plant Optimization Engineers.
• Complete assigned technical training, conferences, and off-site learning activities while developing a long-term career path within PCA.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering must be completed before starting the position.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience, including internships and co-ops, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to work first, second, or third shift during production rotations.
• Must be able to work hands-on at the Cincinnati manufacturing facility and travel as necessary with valid air and car travel documents.
• Strong problem-solving, listening, communication, leadership, teamwork, relationship-building, and deadline-management skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, manufacturing systems, shop-floor software, or maintenance work-order systems is preferred.

Nice to have

• Internship or co-op experience, especially in manufacturing.
• Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Paper, Industrial and Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
• Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Statistical Process Control experience.
• Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership ability.
