Plant Optimization Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite at the corrugated box plant in Jackson, Tennessee, United States. The role requires rotating through first, second, and third shifts as needed and traveling for training and projects.

Salary: $83,000–$86,000 per year, plus an annual bonus based on individual contribution and company performance.

What you will do

• Complete a two-year rotational training program across maintenance and production departments at a corrugated box plant.
• Organize and implement moderate to large process improvements, problem-elimination initiatives, and capital and expense projects.
• Improve equipment, facility, and plant operations with a focus on asset health and reliability.
• Deliver engineering projects involving scrap reduction, throughput improvements, and downtime reduction.
• Collaborate with plant leadership, other Plant Optimization Engineers, machine operators, and maintenance operators.
• Work with a mentor and manager to develop a career path in production, maintenance, or plant leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering completed before starting the position.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience, including internships and co-ops, in a manufacturing plant or industrial environment.
• Ability to work first, second, or third shift during production rotations.
• Ability to travel as necessary with valid documents for air and car travel.
• Strong communication, listening, evaluation, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, develop alternative solutions, and meet deadlines in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Nice to have

• Internship or co-op experience, especially in manufacturing.
• Degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, paper, industrial and systems, manufacturing engineering, or engineering technology.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, shop floor software, or maintenance work-order systems.
• Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Statistical Process Control.
• Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership skills.
