Employment Counsel

Location: Remote, US; travel up to 10%. Non-technical roles require U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee due to export control requirements.

Salary: $169,869–$242,612 USD base compensation, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own offer letter, severance, separation, and other employee lifecycle document templates.
• Advise People and Recruiting teams on ADA processes, FMLA and state leave, wage-and-hour classification, and employee relations.
• Partner with HR on performance management, risk mitigation, and standard employee separations.
• Manage employment subpoenas, personnel-file production, privilege reviews, and legal holds.
• Standardize consultant and contractor onboarding and offboarding, including classification, IP, regulatory, security, and tax compliance.
• Monitor multistate employment compliance and coordinate questions with non-U.S. outside counsel.

Requirements

• JD and active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Approximately 3–5 years of labor and employment experience, including a meaningful law-firm foundation.
• Strong knowledge of federal and multistate employment law, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, and state leave and wage-and-hour requirements.
• Strong drafting skills and the ability to produce practical, signature-ready documents quickly.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and build scalable legal processes.
• Clear business-partner communication skills and ability to provide actionable advice to non-lawyers.
