Employment Counsel

Location: Washington, DC or New York, NY; in-office 4 days per week

Base salary: $200,000–$230,000 annually, plus potential annual discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Advise global Human Capital Management partners and the broader HCM team on employment law and employee relations matters.
• Provide guidance on employment communications, policies, procedures, handbooks, benefits, compliance, and internal investigations.
• Draft and negotiate employment and separation agreements, including restrictive covenants.
• Provide or coordinate training on employment best practices and anti-harassment requirements.
• Educate HCM partners on employment matters and agreement templates.
• Manage outside counsel and other advisors on employment matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required and a JD from a top-tier law school with strong academic performance.
• Active membership in the District of Columbia or New York bar is required, depending on office location.
• 6+ years of relevant professional experience required.
• Experience at a major law firm and/or as in-house counsel focused on employment matters.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority requests, maintain confidentiality, collaborate effectively, and manage external advisors.

Nice to have

• Experience with private equity or the financial industry.
• International employment law or other global experience.
