People Operations Manager

Location: San Francisco, California; hybrid work with a minimum of three days per week in the office

Builds a liquid market for GPU offtake to reduce risk in large-scale AI infrastructure financing.

What you will do

• Bring outsourced HR operations in-house and stabilize onboarding paperwork, benefits administration, employee inquiries, and day-to-day support within the first 30–45 days.
• Own the Gusto HRIS, its integrations, permissions, data integrity, scalability, and coordination with Accounting and Finance on payroll cycles.
• Continuously improve onboarding and offboarding, including preboarding, documentation, employee records, benefits, day-one readiness, final pay, and compliance logistics.
• Administer open enrollment and manage the benefits broker relationship.
• Handle sensitive leave situations, including CFRA, PDL, and ADA interactive processes, with discretion and rigor.
• Build startup-appropriate programs, reporting, automation, manager training, and employee engagement initiatives while advising leadership on operational risks and tradeoffs.

Requirements

• 6+ years of HR generalist or People Operations experience, including experience in a lean 1–3 person function at a company with fewer than approximately 150 employees.
• Full ownership of an HRIS platform, including payroll, integrations, permissions, and data integrity.
• Experience rapidly stabilizing an undocumented or loosely defined operational function and building processes from scratch.
• Working knowledge of California employment law, including FEHA, CFRA/PFL, exempt classification, and final pay.
• Direct experience with benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, and performance management; willingness to escalate complex or high-risk matters appropriately.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office at least three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience designing or overhauling a performance review cycle.
• Previous work in a technical, engineering-heavy, or infrastructure-focused company.
• Hands-on experience with Gusto specifically.
