Senior IT Field Engineer

Location: Chicago Metro Area — onsite/field-based, with regular travel between client locations

Salary: $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications

What you will do

• Provide onsite technical support and infrastructure services across multiple client locations.
• Troubleshoot desktops, servers, networks, cloud services, and other IT infrastructure.
• Support Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and Azure environments.
• Diagnose network issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, wireless networks, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Troubleshoot server hardware, storage, RAID, virtualization, and physical infrastructure.
• Document technical environments and communicate issues, recommendations, and status to client stakeholders and internal teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in IT support, systems administration, field engineering, network engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Strong experience with Windows desktop and Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft technologies.
• Strong networking fundamentals and experience supporting firewalls, VPNs, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
• Experience troubleshooting server hardware, storage, virtualization, and network connectivity issues.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems independently with minimal guidance.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly between client locations throughout the Chicago metro area.

Nice to have

• Aruba networking, including switches, access points, Aruba Central, Instant On, or CLI.
• Microsoft Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, IPSec VPN, or SD-WAN experience.
• macOS support and physical network infrastructure, cabling, or cable tracing experience.
• Experience working in an MSP or multi-client IT environment.
