Mechanical Engineer (Manufacturing Equipment)

Location: St Paul, Minnesota, United States; travel up to 30% annually to U.S. and Canadian facilities.

Salary: $88,000–$100,000 annually, plus eligibility for commission or an annual performance incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, custom machines, and integrated equipment systems using 3D CAD.
• Create engineering drawings, equipment specifications, technical requirements, SOPs, and work instructions for fabrication, installation, and long-term support.
• Research, evaluate, source, and validate print, packaging, and fulfillment equipment and components.
• Plan and execute equipment projects with cross-functional teams, vendors, and procurement partners.
• Test prototypes and production installations for throughput, quality, robustness, and safety.
• Serve as a specialized mechanical escalation resource and provide remote or on-site support for critical equipment issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and manufacturing engineering experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD with a demonstrated design-to-build portfolio.
• Experience or willingness to work hands-on with equipment, including occasional production-floor, remote, or on-site escalation support.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid passport or be able to obtain one for travel to Canada.
• Experience writing equipment specifications and technical requirement documents.
• Ability to coordinate vendors and work with mechanical, electrical, and controls subsystems.

Nice to have

• SolidWorks experience and a CAD portfolio covering projects of varying complexity.
• Experience in conventional or digital printing.
• Project management experience; PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Working knowledge of computer and electrical controls.
