Lead Engineer, Industrial Design

Location: Remote within the United States; frequent travel within China to supplier manufacturing sites is required, with travel up to 10%.

Salary: $117,300–$176,000 annually, plus an eligible discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Provide design leadership for projects, process improvement, and industrial design staff development.
• Support design research, consumer profiling, concept development, and product identity.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to solve usability, user experience, appearance, and manufacturing challenges.
• Create sketches, drawings, renderings, prototypes, and concept presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Test and validate concepts while applying knowledge of materials, finishes, manufacturing processes, and new product development.
• Visit supplier factories in China and review manufacturing operations on the factory floor.

Requirements

• BS or BFA in Industrial Design.
• 5–7 years of professional experience and a portfolio demonstrating a thoughtful creative process.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, KeyShot, and 3D modeling software.
• Excellent digital and traditional sketching, form development, and product visualization skills.
• Strong understanding of design principles, aesthetics, color, materials, finishes, ergonomics, and end-user experience.
• Ability to travel frequently within China and spend considerable time at supplier manufacturing facilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, or Pro/ENGINEER.
• Consumer products experience.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes as they relate to design.
