Business Analyst (Banking)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. Candidates must be legally eligible to work at the specified location and hold a valid work or study permit where applicable.

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and location. Eligibility for incentive compensation and a discretionary bonus may apply.

What you will do

• Gather, analyze, validate, and document business requirements through interviews, workshops, and collaboration with business users, project managers, developers, vendors, and control functions.
• Create current- and future-state process flow diagrams, identify process gaps and inefficiencies, and manage changes to project and program controls.
• Develop test plans, test cases, negative test scenarios, and traceability documentation based on business requirements.
• Coordinate test environments, execute testing, manage defects, and support User Acceptance Testing with stakeholders.
• Support project planning, milestone tracking, documentation, risk and issue management, status reporting, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and the PMO.
• Improve project management methodologies, tools, templates, workflows, and standardized practices within the PMO.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Experience working in Waterfall or Agile project management environments and a strong understanding of project management principles.
• Proficiency in requirements gathering, process flowcharting, test planning, test case creation, traceability, test execution, and defect management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio; a college degree is required.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States at the specified location is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or other industry-standard test management tools.
• Familiarity with banking operations, banking regulations, and financial systems.
• Professional certification such as CBAP.
