Principal Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote within the United States, excluding North Dakota, Vermont, and Rhode Island; travel required to offices in Carlsbad, California, and Reston, Virginia, with up to 20% travel.

Salary: $200,000–$315,500 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $248,500–$372,500 annually.

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and advance security controls across enterprise, cloud, product, and infrastructure environments.
• Develop secure architectures for ground and space networks in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Lead security reviews, threat modeling, architecture assessments, and security risk evaluations.
• Create and lead information security programs aligned with constructed architectures.
• Provide technical and policy guidance for RMF security accreditation efforts and implement the DoD Zero Trust framework.
• Develop security standards, reference architectures, engineering processes, and risk recommendations for technical and business partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of experience leading complex security engineering and architecture initiatives.
• Experience designing and implementing security controls in enterprise-scale environments and securing Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with SPRS, eMASS, identity and access management, authentication, authorization, privileged access controls, network security, endpoint security, and vulnerability management.
• Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting and automation languages.
• U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• CISSP, CCSP, GIAC, Azure Security Engineer, AWS Security Specialty, or similar certifications.
• Experience with Zero Trust, identity security, cloud-native technologies, containers, Kubernetes, platform engineering, SIEM, SOAR, XDR, and security monitoring.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, or FedRAMP environments.
• Experience with security automation, DevSecOps, MBSE, and influencing technical direction across teams.
