Sr. Engineer - Risk Platform (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid in Sunnyvale, California, or Redmond, Washington, USA, with 2–3 days in the office.

Salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, plus potential bonuses, equity grants, health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable backend services for internal and customer-facing web applications.
• Build command-line utilities, REST APIs, databases, real-time data pipelines, and monitoring systems.
• Architect microservices and distributed systems focused on performance, reliability, and high availability.
• Collaborate with UX/UI, Sensors, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions and documentation.
• Configure monitoring and alerting, troubleshoot production systems, and support incident response.
• Drive architectural improvements, optimize performance, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical decisions.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of production experience building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems processing high-volume data.
• Advanced programming experience with strongly typed, object-oriented languages; Golang and Python are used primarily.
• Experience designing microservices, scalable REST APIs, and distributed communication patterns.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure, including provisioning, monitoring, and optimization.
• Understanding of concurrency, parallel processing, sharding, eventual consistency, caching, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience, plus strong algorithms, data structures, testing, and system design foundations.

Nice to have

• Machine learning or AI implementation experience.
• Elasticsearch, Cassandra/CQL, or graph database experience.
• Cybersecurity industry experience or relevant certifications.
• Docker, Kubernetes, open-source contributions, or technical community involvement.
