Sr. Software Engineer - AWS

Location: Scottsdale, with a hybrid work model; positions in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, and New York require regular office collaboration. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer at the date of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Base pay in Phoenix, Arizona: $118,000–$152,000 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, document, and maintain software applications and supporting cloud services.
• Translate business and technical requirements into software designs, technical specifications, and architecture decisions.
• Develop and operate applications in AWS, including compute, storage, databases, networking, integration, and security components.
• Build infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, tracing, and operational dashboards.
• Evaluate and improve application performance, scalability, resilience, availability, recovery, security, and cloud cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across application, infrastructure, database, integration, and network layers; support incidents and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Typically five years of relevant experience or an equivalent demonstrated portfolio.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Production software development and support experience, including proficiency in Java, C#, C++, Python, JavaScript, or another relevant language.
• Hands-on AWS experience, including infrastructure, deployment automation or infrastructure-as-code, identity and access management, networking, logging, monitoring, and data protection.
• Experience with SQL or other data-storage technologies, APIs, web services, distributed systems, event-driven processing, asynchronous patterns, automated testing, and source-code management.
• Eligibility to work in the United States for any employer is required; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform, containers, orchestration platforms, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, and disaster-recovery solutions in AWS.
• Experience with observability, distributed tracing, centralized logging, application performance monitoring, and cloud cost optimization.
• AWS certification and experience with secure coding, test-driven development, behavior-driven development, UML, service-oriented architecture, or domain-driven design.
