Principal Software Engineer (Cortex Platform)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; hybrid role with regular office collaboration.

Salary: $147,000–$237,500 per year, plus potential restricted stock units and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead backend feature and component development from design through deployment, testing, and maintenance.
• Build scalable, maintainable backend services and shared infrastructure for the Cortex Platform.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to shape solutions and integrate product components.
• Drive code reviews, design reviews, architectural decisions, and team-wide technical excellence.
• Resolve production issues and maintain platform stability for thousands of customers.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical growth and accountability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience developing scalable server-side applications.
• 7+ years of hands-on programming experience with Go and/or Python.
• Experience with major cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, including Kubernetes, Docker, or serverless technologies.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and distributed computing experience, including distributed databases and consensus concepts.

Nice to have

• Experience with big-data architectures using Kafka, Splunk, or Flink.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as BigQuery or Elasticsearch.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, information security, or software security principles.
