Assistant Lawyer (Insurance)

Location: London, UK; hybrid working with a minimum of one day per week in the office

What you will do

• Independently manage a caseload from start to finish.
• Support lead lawyers on large and complex property damage and insurance coverage claims, often exceeding £1 million.
• Review documents, prepare draft and bespoke coverage advice, and conduct legal research and investigations.
• Support litigation by drafting applications, court proceedings, counsel and expert instructions, and case documentation.
• Analyze coverage, liability, quantum, and strategy while attending client meetings and conferences.
• Conduct settlement negotiations, roundtable discussions, ADR, and client training seminars.

Requirements

• Legal qualification as a Solicitor or FILEX.
• Previous defendant property insurance litigation experience, ideally with a construction background.
• Thorough understanding of disputes and claims handled by the department and insurer clients.
• Familiarity with product liability, breach of contract, negligence, property law, and insurance coverage.
• Strong prioritization, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort working with case management systems and liaising with senior claims handlers.
