Senior Linux System Administrator (Linux infrastructure): Leading Linux administration and infrastructure management for scientific computing systems supporting public health initiatives with an accent on automation, virtualization, containers, storage, and security compliance. Focus on configuring Kubernetes and HPC environments, developing Ansible automation, troubleshooting complex services, and executing vulnerability remediation.

What you will do

  • Lead administration of Linux environments, including RHEL, Red Hat, and CentOS systems.
  • Manage virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, HPC software, BIND, file systems, NAS appliances, and VMware-based virtual servers.
  • Automate software configuration and infrastructure management with Ansible and Bash.
  • Administer FreeIPA and Linux-based LDAP authentication services, firewalls, SELinux, and security protocols.
  • Monitor environments with Nagios, Zabbix, Sensu, and Prometheus while improving system performance and reliability.
  • Lead troubleshooting, documentation, change management, issue tracking, vulnerability remediation, and mentorship of junior administrators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of Linux system administration experience, including at least 3 years in a senior role.
  • RHCE certification or equivalent, with advanced VMware, Ansible, and security protocol knowledge.
  • Intermediate experience with Ansible or Puppet, Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, virtualization, and basic container technologies such as Docker, Podman, and libvirt.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, troubleshooting, communication, organization, documentation, and deadline-management skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) clearance.
