Senior Storage Engineer

Location: Remote Kentucky, United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices may be required.

Salary: $106,900–$147,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design, implement, operate, and optimize enterprise backup and recovery architectures across physical, virtual, cloud, SaaS, and containerized environments.
• Administer and engineer IBM Storage Protect, IBM Storage Defender Data Protect, Rubrik Security Cloud, Commvault, and cloud-native backup platforms.
• Lead cyber recovery and ransomware resilience initiatives, including immutable storage, air-gapped recovery vaults, exercises, and validation testing.
• Define architecture standards, recovery objectives, operational runbooks, governance processes, and long-term data protection roadmaps.
• Automate provisioning, monitoring, reporting, and operational workflows using PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Coordinate service onboarding, vendor escalations, technology evaluations, and delivery with infrastructure, cloud, security, application, and operations teams.

Requirements

• Must be based in Kentucky, United States, for this remote role.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of enterprise backup, storage, or data protection experience.
• 5+ years with one or more enterprise backup platforms, including IBM Storage Protect, IBM Storage Defender Data Protect, Commvault, Rubrik, or Dell PPDM.
• Experience designing and supporting large-scale backup environments across VMware, Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, plus demonstrated project management experience.

Nice to have

• Healthcare or highly regulated industry experience.
• Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, container protection, Splunk, ServiceNow, or ITIL experience.
• Experience with cyber recovery, ransomware resilience, technical leadership, and mentoring junior engineers.
