TL;DR

Grid Operations Engineer (Wind Energy): Operating and maintaining MV/HV electrical equipment and supporting grid operations for wind energy sites with an accent on switching operations, SCADA support, fault resolution, and compliance with Irish electrical legislation. Focus on coordinating repairs, supporting first energisations across the UK and Ireland, and solving technical issues through inspections, testing, documentation, and technician support.

Location: Tralee, Ireland, or within weekly commuting distance; hybrid with less than 50% remote work. Regular nationwide travel and occasional international travel for training and workshops are expected.

What you will do

Authorise, supervise, and perform switching operations as a switching-authorised dispatcher.
Support compliance with Irish legislation for high-voltage electrical works and ensure MV/HV and associated LV equipment is inspected and maintained.
Organise materials and labour for MV/HV equipment repairs and assist technicians with fault fixes, checks, tests, and breakdown resolution.
Provide first-level SCADA fault analysis and technical support, including support for SCADA installations during projects and refits.
Progress toward the Switching Control Engineer role for UK and Ireland sites and first energisations after completing training and supervised experience.
Maintain technical documentation, records, software and hardware updates, databases, stock control, and communication with customers, owners, operators, and technicians.

Requirements

Electrical trade qualification or electrical degree is essential.
At least four years of wind turbine experience is essential.
Good IT skills, strong organisation, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving ability.
Ability to write technical reports and documentation and manage workloads independently.
Willingness to progress to AE status within six months if required by the business.
Flexibility to participate in weekend on-call work and travel regularly for technical matters and training.
