Senior Software Engineer - Backend (IoT): Architecting and scaling distributed backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and microservice architectures for IoT and Agentic AI platforms with an accent on Node.js, TypeScript, database performance, and edge-to-cloud integration. Focus on designing resilient RESTful and GraphQL APIs, processing high-volume real-time telemetry, improving observability and reliability, and solving complex hardware-cloud performance challenges.
Location: In-office at the headquarters in American Fork, Utah, United States. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

What you will do
- Architect, build, deploy, and scale high-throughput, low-latency backend services and microservices using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Design and manage resilient RESTful and GraphQL APIs connecting edge devices, data stores, and consumer applications.
- Optimize real-time data ingestion pipelines and database performance for IoT telemetry, computer vision metadata, and Agentic AI streams.
- Design relational schemas, caching strategies, and ORM or query-builder solutions for MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Raise engineering standards through code reviews, CI/CD improvements, architecture RFCs, testing, observability, and distributed tracing.
- Collaborate with product management, hardware engineering, and AI research teams while mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience operating production systems at scale.
- Advanced server-side TypeScript and Node.js expertise, including asynchronous programming, event loops, and microservice design patterns.
- Experience designing and scaling RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Strong proficiency with MySQL or PostgreSQL, query optimization, indexing, and Knex, Prisma, or similar ORM and query-builder tools.
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ or MQTT, and AWS or GCP cloud-native architecture.
- Experience with testing, CI/CD automation, observability, security standards, technical ownership, and mentoring.
