Staff Backend Engineer

Location: Onsite at the headquarters in Downtown Dallas, Texas, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Build robust backend services and APIs for web and mobile application features.
• Own selected roadmap features through design, development, testing, release, and post-release support.
• Support internal users, gather feedback, and help plan new platform features.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews while promoting maintainable, high-quality code.
• Drive test-driven development and comprehensive automated testing.
• Participate in on-call incident response, postmortem analysis, and remediation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, or other backend engineering frameworks.
• 6+ years of industry experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, including database design and SQL.
• Experience mentoring junior developers and owning software releases.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and CI/CD.
• Ability to work in-office at the Downtown Dallas headquarters and existing U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Containerization and orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and monitoring on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience managing RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS for asynchronous processing and inter-service communication.
• Understanding of frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Experience profiling and load-testing distributed systems to resolve performance bottlenecks.
