Senior Engineer (Platform)

Location: Hybrid role based in Boston, MA; Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; or Vancouver, Washington, United States.

Salary: $125,000–$205,000 USD annually for US candidates; $110,000–$160,000 CAD annually for Canadian candidates.

What you will do

• Design scalable, maintainable, and secure service architectures and contribute to long-term platform planning.
• Build backend services in C# using functional programming principles or in TypeScript for web and background worker applications.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, and improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, Infrastructure as Code, and secure development practices.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex backend and infrastructure issues while acting as a subject-matter expert for system reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and promote Agile engineering practices.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressive software engineering experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, system architecture, and secure, scalable platform design.
• Proficiency in or ability to quickly ramp up with typed functional programming in C# or TypeScript.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or an equivalent cloud platform.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps, Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, application security, testing automation, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, complex problem-solving, technical communication, and mentoring.

Nice to have

• PostgreSQL expertise.
• Strong interest in applying AI and ML in production systems.
