Senior Software Engineer II - Backend (Node.js/TypeScript)

Location: Onsite at the headquarters in American Fork, Utah, United States. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and deploy scalable backend services and API endpoints with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Optimize system architecture, API latency, database queries, and backend infrastructure for platform growth.
• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, and DevOps to define technical specifications, estimates, and releases.
• Improve code quality through unit testing, code reviews, technical documentation, and maintainable engineering practices.
• Investigate complex production defects, perform root-cause analysis, and protect uptime and data integrity.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, developer tooling, and modern cloud architecture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience delivering production microservices and APIs.
• 3+ years of hands-on Node.js and TypeScript experience.
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs with OpenAPI and/or GraphQL queries and mutations.
• Familiarity with server frameworks such as NestJS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, schema design optimization, unit and integration testing.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; strong communication and Agile collaboration skills.
