TL;DR
Staff Backend Software Engineer (AI) (Node.js/TypeScript): Architecting resilient, scalable cloud services and API systems for intelligent site technology with an accent on backend architecture, performance, reliability, and technical leadership. Focus on optimizing production services, solving complex edge cases, improving CI/CD workflows, and mentoring engineers across the organization.
Location: Onsite at the American Fork headquarters, American Fork, Utah, United States. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

What you will do
- Drive backend architecture, technical direction, and engineering design standards across production services.
- Build and deliver scalable Node.js and TypeScript services and API systems.
- Identify bottlenecks, improve CI/CD workflows, and introduce tools that increase developer productivity.
- Partner with Product Management, QA, and DevOps to translate product requirements into technical specifications and delivery plans.
- Resolve complex technical edge cases and root causes to protect uptime and system resilience.
- Mentor software engineers through feedback, architecture reviews, and technical development.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on complex backend systems, cloud services, and APIs.
- 3+ years of production experience architecting and maintaining enterprise Node.js and TypeScript services.
- Expertise in OpenAPI and REST API design, plus experience with GraphQL queries and mutations.
- Familiarity with NestJS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency with relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
- Experience providing technical mentorship, improving engineering processes, and working in Agile environments.
