Senior Consultant (Downstream) (Energy)

Location: London or Edinburgh, United Kingdom; occasional travel may be required for client engagements.

What you will do

• Deliver strategic and commercial consulting projects across energy, downstream, and natural resources sectors.
• Support project workstreams through advanced modelling, data analysis, market research, and analytical problem-solving.
• Develop clear, compelling client presentations and reports with actionable recommendations.
• Gather, interpret, and validate data from internal and external sources, including industry publications, databases, and proprietary products.
• Present complex findings to clients and colleagues while managing project milestones, risks, and deadlines.
• Collaborate with consulting, research, commercial, project, and subject-matter teams.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in consulting, strategy, commercial analysis, market intelligence, or a related analytical role.
• Knowledge of downstream or broader natural resources sectors, including industry dynamics, value chains, and energy transition impacts.
• Understanding of oil processing and conversion assets, including margins, crack spreads, product qualities, netback pricing, and differentials.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills in data analysis, modelling, market assessment, and strategic evaluation.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Office products, and AI tools.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, communication, problem-solving, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Direct experience in oil processing, refineries, gas processing, midstream or pipeline operations, petrochemicals, fuels marketing, energy trading, or commodity trading.
• Experience with asset-level or market modelling, linear programming, optimisation, supply-demand balancing, or price forecasting.
• Experience in market analysis, corporate strategy, market entry, valuation, or financial modelling.
