TL;DR
Audio Expert (Music Transcription & Polyphonic Analysis) (Music Transcription/Python): Transcribing polyphonic recordings into accurate musical notation and generating MusicXML files with an accent on SATB line separation, pitch and rhythm identification, and precise music theory application. Focus on validating transcriptions, handling enharmonic spelling and re-articulations, and supporting audio-analysis workflows with Python.

Location: Global, fully remote; flexible schedule of approximately 15 hours per week.

hirify.global is running an AI training project involving music transcription and polyphonic audio analysis.

What you will do

  • Transcribe polyphonic recordings into accurate musical notation.
  • Separate and identify SATB vocal lines.
  • Identify pitches, rhythms, durations, rests, and re-articulations.
  • Apply key signatures, accidentals, and enharmonic spelling.
  • Generate and manipulate MusicXML files using Python and audio-analysis tools.
  • Validate transcriptions through musical and technical review.

Requirements

  • Strong Python skills.
  • Advanced ear training and experience with polyphonic music transcription.
  • Knowledge of SATB music, music theory, notation, harmony, and rhythm.
  • Experience working with MusicXML.
  • High musical and technical accuracy.

Nice to have

  • Experience in choral music, arranging, composition, performance, score preparation, or audio transcription.
  • Familiarity with librosa, NumPy, SciPy, music21, MuseScore, Essentia, or pretty_midi.
  • Relevant expertise in place of formal education or a specific number of years of experience.
