Audio Transcription & Alignment Specialist (AI Audio)

Location: Fully remote contract role for specialists in the Sydney area

What you will do

• Review and correct word-level transcripts for spelling, grammar, accuracy, and strict formatting compliance.
• Align word and segment timing boundaries with spoken audio at millisecond precision.
• Edit transcript text and timing simultaneously in a specialized web-based audio labeling tool.
• Resolve difficult audio cases, including overlapping speech, filler words, false starts, background noise, and unclear speech.
• Maintain consistent quality across large volumes of audio tasks and meet tight per-task deadlines.
• Work independently and asynchronously on a flexible schedule.

Requirements

• Native or near-native English fluency with excellent listening comprehension.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to distinguish accents, dialects, mumbled words, and overlapping speakers.
• Ability to follow detailed transcription style guides and rule-based conventions consistently.
• Comfort working with specialized web-based editing tools and interfaces.
• Methodical, patient, precise, self-motivated, and reliable under task-based deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience in closed captioning, broadcast transcription, subtitling, or court reporting.
• Background in linguistics, phonetics, or audio data annotation.
• Familiarity with Praat, ELAN, Subtitle Edit, waveform editors, or subtitle and caption software.
• Experience in speech-to-text quality assurance, audio post-production, data labeling, or AI training projects.
• Fast and accurate typing skills.
