TL;DR
Italian Audio Transcriptionist (AI Training) (Italian audio transcription): Producing precise verbatim transcriptions of real-world Italian speech for AI training with an accent on speaker identification, overlapping speech, dialects, and difficult audio conditions. Focus on applying detailed style guides, timestamps, speaker labels, and annotation tags while flagging unclear segments across task-based assignments.

Location: Remote; work is available across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond

Compensation: Hourly contract; 10–40 hours per week

What you will do

  • Produce precise, verbatim transcriptions of Italian conversations, interviews, meetings, and other real-world audio.
  • Capture crosstalk, overlapping speakers, filled pauses, false starts, accents, dialects, and other natural speech phenomena.
  • Identify multiple speakers and apply timestamps, speaker labels, and annotation tags.
  • Transcribe challenging recordings with background noise, low audio quality, and rapid dialogue.
  • Follow detailed transcription style guides and formatting conventions consistently.
  • Flag unclear or inaudible segments and complete task-based assignments independently.

Requirements

  • Native or near-native Italian fluency, including comprehension across registers, speeds, and regional variations.
  • Exceptional listening skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written Italian, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to follow complex style and formatting guidelines across large volumes of work.
  • Self-motivation, reliability, and comfort working independently.
  • Comfort using web-based tools and platforms.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer.
  • Background in subtitles, closed captioning, or post-production editing.
  • Experience with linguistics, phonetics, language documentation, translation, localization, or language services.
  • Familiarity with annotation or data labeling platforms and Italian regional dialects.
  • Experience working with detailed professional style guides.
