German Audio Transcriptionist (AI Training)

Location: Remote, based in the New York metro area; must be authorized to work as an independent contractor in the United States

What you will do

• Produce precise, verbatim transcriptions of German-language audio recordings.
• Parse challenging audio with crosstalk, filled pauses, background noise, and multiple simultaneous speakers.
• Identify and distinguish speakers throughout recordings.
• Apply detailed style, formatting, and transcription conventions for non-verbal sounds and incomplete utterances.
• Maintain accuracy and quality across large volumes of audio.
• Work independently and asynchronously on task-based assignments.

Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in German is required.
• Exceptional listening skills for difficult or noisy audio.
• Strong written German, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• High attention to detail and a patient, methodical approach.
• Ability to follow detailed style guides consistently.
• Authorization to work as an independent contractor in the United States.

Nice to have

• Professional transcription, court reporting, or stenography experience.
• Subtitling, closed-captioning, or media post-production experience.
• Linguistics training or an academic background in German studies.
• Experience with annotation platforms, data labeling workflows, transcription software, or audio editing tools.
• Knowledge of German regional dialects and colloquial speech patterns.
